March is bracket season and that means it’s time to pick your favorite firearms in Guns & Ammo’s 5th-annual bracket challenge! Only one firearm will be crowned champion of G&A Madness 2017, and it’s up to YOU to decide which gun becomes victorious. Springfield Armory Saint

Springfield Armory made its foray into the AR market and announced its AR-15 to a short list of my colleagues within the Outdoor Sportsman Group (OSG). Shooting Times, Rifleshooter and Guns & Ammo were all represented at the secret preview on Sept. 13, 2016. The location was a remote training facility near Gillette, Wyoming, where U.S. Navy SEAL Eric Frohardt was busy training combat mindset and carbine use to six female shooting contestants from different walks of life. The winning participant would be announced as the face of Springfield’s project several weeks later, when the rest of the gun industry’s media was let in on the secret project in Las Vegas. To receive an invite to the second event, the media accepted a non-disclosure agreement — …

Glock Gives A Solid M’Lady To The Females

Some new commercials: The actors, voiceover, music, locations, editing… I don’t really like any of it.  The first video I legit thought was a preroll ad that YouTube was playing, and I was looking for the “skip after 3 seconds” countdown button… but then I was like Ohhhhh.  Whatever Glock is doing is obviously working though, with or without lit commercials that appeal specifically to me. I don’t know how many girls follow this blog, but if you are one do you like these ads? In the second video at 0:24 – Finger on the trigger as she’s racking the slide?  Not ideal they used that footage.  Sure there’s no magazine in the gun, but it’s not good …

Funker Tactical Mansplaining Why Women’s Only Classes Are Dangerous

ahhahahhaha: These guys really stick to the formula of clickbaity titles and random discussion, wow. I always thought the MAIN reason women didn’t want to train with guys are because guys are macho and try to impress women *shrug*… this happens enough in a woman’s day to day life with the looks, comments, and the m’lady’s everywhere they go It sounds really exhausting.  Going to something women’s only seems like it would be a breath of fresh air. VICE on Smart Guns

This is the best smart gun documentary I’ve seen: I really thought it would have had more of an anti-gun twist to it, but I was pleasantly surprised it didn’t. They even showed suicide and homicide on their pie chart at 3:10! We’re so used to seeing it all lumped in together to inflate the number. Oh man that ATF vault is incredible. I was hoping that VICE corespondent would shoulder a brace while he was there, just to troll haha. That implant activated RFID implant “smart gun” failing at the end wasn’t ideal for that guy. It was great they left that footage in… I was pleasantly surprised. Thoughts? VICE on Smart Guns originally appeared …

When do you know it’s time?

Sometimes I wonder whether I’ll really know when it’s time to bring Zack for that final vet trip. He’s still a happy go lucky dog most of the time and is honestly in pretty good shape for a 13 1/2 year old chocolate lab. There are times though, where he’s laying down and looking up at me with this kind of sad, resigned look on his face that says “I’m tired and I hurt” and he lets out a big sigh.He was a very very sick dog from mid to late February through early April. There was misdiagnosis, miscommunication between the vet, myself and my mother. There was blood, there was…

The Basics Behind Correct Aiming

Aiming, defined as “to direct (a weapon or camera) at a target,” is the most important aspect of shooting. It’s one thing to fire off a bunch of rounds; it’s another thing to shoot accurately. If proper aiming is your goal, begin by figuring out your dominant eye. Determining eye dominance is a critical step in becoming a better shooter. Discovering yours is an easy task that takes only seconds. Eye dominance plays an important role in shooting. If you are left-eye dominant and shooting right handed, it’s not very likely that you will hit the target. Luckily, there is a simple test to figure this out. With your arms fully extended, cross your hands to make a…

New Compact Carry Guns

Not every gun owner can comfortably pack a full-sized pistol for everyday carry. Differences in climate, body shape/physical condition, skill level and hand size can all influence what type of pistol is right for them. Below is a collection of compact carry pistols seen at the 2017 SHOT Show that, despite their reduced size, provide a compact yet shootable package in the right hands. 1911-380 Black Label Medallion Pro Compact Yes, the .380 is considered a marginal caliber by some. But if the choice is a .380 or harsh words, most of us will opt for the much more comforting and effective .380 pistol. The Browning 1911 .380 features a blackened stainless steel finish …

A Rebuttal to John Farnum on Aftermarket Glock Barrels

Recently, I ran across a fantastic article from training John Farnum on his perspective on the use of aftermarket drop-in barrels on Glock handguns (can be found here). Loose AR Receivers? JP Enterprises Fixed Them with MicroFit Pins

To me, the only major and glaring design issue behind the AR-15 and similar two-receiver designs is the interface between the two receivers. By using only two pins and having variable tolerance between them for mass-manufacturing inevitably leads to excessive slop. This is compounded by the choices in materials as steel rubs on aluminum receivers … Read More … The post Loose AR Receivers?
