Here I am….

Hmmm, I really thought I’d written something here since October, but apparently I haven’t, shame on me 🙂 So here I am, back again, let me tell you what has been going on since Oct., that job I was working and LOVED, well it has fizzled, turns out there isn’t enough work for 2 people in this area, although the 2 of us seemed to be doing just fine, apparently the boss’ boss doesn’t agree. I am

Good Fences, etc.

One point I’ve tried to make here in many different ways is that once we advanced past tribal organization, the optimum system for human beings is a system of nations. Individuals are too weak to defend themselves against coalitions. Tribes are too weak to defend themselves against coalitions of tribes, i. e., nations. And nations alone are powerful enough to defend their constituent individuals from empires or, perish the thought, world government, whatever it calls itself — “globalism” is popular right now.You can’t be a citizen of the world, any more than you can be everybody’s spouse. Divided loyalties aren’t loyalties at all.Stuart Schneiderman link has this to say about…

Realities of Defensive Conflicts

I have seen a couple good things recently and addressing them both at once seemed to make the most sense. The first is a post by Larry Correia “The Legalities of Shooting People”The second is security camera footage of a real life defensive shooting in Brazil a few days ago. I will talk about them in order. This is intentional because legal realities affect our tactical options. Larry Correia is not a lawyer. You should not consider his excellent post to be legal advice. I am definitely not a lawyer or in any way qualified to give legal advice. If you are making life and death decisions based on random crap you read on the …

Love those Tesla-lovers

Tesla-powered poolJason Hughes is a happy hacker – but not of computers – he is known for leaking Tesla’s plans ahead of the company’s actual announcements, and now he has revealed photos of his own Tesla battery-powered compound in North Carolina. The 4,500 square-foot home has 102 commercial-grade solar panels to capture energy from the sun which then gets stored into a home battery storage unit composed of battery modules ripped from two Tesla Model S 85 kWh packs. The 44.4 kW home solar system produces enough energy to not only power the entire home and all of its electrical …

Willful amnesia is the grease that oils the machine of partisan dysfunction.

From my latest article at The Independent Voter Network:In the never-ending fight / dance along the partisan line dividing the Republican and Democratic brands, each side adopts the tactics suited to its position at the moment, usually accompanied by a spectacular display of mass-amnesia on the part of the fierce partisans who always give their unqualified support to their party.

Put YOUR Oxygen Mask on FIRST!

Guest post by Hana Noredi:Donald Trump’s slogan “America First” is appropriate. However much his choice of words reminds one of a particular time in America’s history and the connotations of Lindbergh’s speech in Iowa, the idea and sentiment behind “America First” is healthy and logical. What does the flight attendant mention in the pre-flight instructions? If use of oxygen masks is deemed necessary PUT YOURS ON FIRST before you begin to help anyone else with theirs. Women today talk about self-care. De-stress, put on a masque, get a massage, drink a power shake, take a vacation, turn off your cell phone. Take care of yourself before even beginning to nurture…

Off grid pot growers have problems stashing the cash

What do we do with all the Green? Legalization of marijuana in 28 states across the US has caused off-grid pot growers to jump for joy, but ongoing issues with depositing the large amounts of cash generated from the business, (and uncertainty on Trump’s stance) has put a damper on the industry. Pot growing requires a lot of power and is therefore an expensive off-grid venture – cannabis is something that needs regularity, 12/12 light without interruption and regular temps – it is hard to create a stable indoor environment without large solar panels and batteries to guarantee access to power. While new technologies to assist in the process are being developed by …

Stanford Java Lectures: Programming Methodology with Professor Mehran Sahami Video

Watched 1 – 3 of these today. I imagine I’ll be watching all 28.If you like to understand the fundamentals of computer programming as you learn to code, this feels very grounded, and the lecturer’s style is very engaging and entertaining. Also has a lot of student participation in the form of question asking (into mics throughout the lecture hall so you can hear their questions). Fantastic stuff for beginners learning to code.

The Semi-Triumph of the Alt-Right

Well, we won with Trump. Sort of, at least. Oh, the fall of Hillary and Jeb before the Trump juggernaut is a definite win for us. That’s two hideous dynasties down and gone, we hope. But is Trump’s election a win in itself? I would say yes, almost definitely. Trump has followed through, as much as is possible, with his promises to do something about our idiotic immigration policies, and his implicit promise to restore nationalism.Nationalism, of course, has been pretty much scorned or denounces outright by every President since Reagan, and our immigration system has been self-destructive since 1965, when Ted Kennedy’s bill…
